MONTHLY MEETING
The April meeting will be held at Aquinas College in the Wege Ballroom.  If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to info@wmsbf.org by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9.  More information can be found below or on our website.

BOARD NOMINATIONS

As was announced at the March meeting, the Board of Directors is extending its term an additional year during our transition. However, there are three seats that will be opened and we are accepting nominations.  The nomination form can be downloaded here and sent to Kyle Ten Broeke at kyle@wmsbf.org by 5:00 pm on Friday, April 17.  Ballots will be emailed and voting will commence the following week, with votes to be received by April 30.


EMBRACING A GREEN FUTURE
The Right Place is presenting a two-day conference for manufacturers on April 28 and 29th at GVSU's Eberhard Center.  More information can be found below, on the WMSBF website, or through The Right Place.


DESIGN COMMITTEE CHARRETTE
The Design Committee will be holding a design charrette for the Sherman Street Habitat for Humanity project on April 8, from 8:00am to 1pm at the Alliance for Environmental Sustainability at 947 Wealthy SE in Grand Rapids.


INTERN IN MICHIGAN
The Internship Initiative Project has made its internship website live.  Those interested in participating in this exciting program are invited to view the website at www.interninmichigan.com

As part of our desire to balance information within the framework of the Triple Bottom Line we will be focusing on diversity in the workplace during our April 13 meeting.  Paul Doyle will be presenting on Organizational Cultural Competence while representatives of the Disability Advocates of Kent County will be presenting on Transportation, ZeroStep, and Workforce Development.

Designing Sustainable Communities Through Business

Green Today, Jobs Tomorrow

May 11, 2009 :: Lansing Center

 

The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth (DELEG) is now accepting registrations for the “Green Today, Jobs Tomorrow”; conference to be held on May 11, 2009 at the Lansing Center. The registration form is at available online at www.michigan.gov/greenjobsconference.

 

The conference is a once in a lifetime opportunity for everybody to play a role in devising the strategy to create a vibrant green economy in Michigan.  The conference is aimed at partners from the renewable energy, environmental, workforce, and economic development communities, as well as labor, education, student, community and faith-based leaders.  The conference will highlight what green jobs are coming and what training is needed for these jobs. The conference will feature dynamic national leaders soon to be announced.

 

Interested participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible since space is limited and to take advantage of the early registration fee of $110 offered through March 15. The registration fee increases to $135 for registrations submitted between March 16 and the May 4th cutoff date. Registration on the day of the event, if still available, will be $185.
