June 15, 2009 MONTHLY MEETINGS Many thanks to Amy Banninga and Chris Byrnes for their informative presentations at last week’s meeting at GRCC. There has been much interest in receiving their presentations which can be downloaded (along with all past presentations) from the WMSBF website – or click here for Amy’s and here for Chris’. Our July meeting is being hosted by Morgan Stanley Smith Barney at a location to be determined on July 13 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The topic will be socially responsible investing with a portfolio development best practices exercise. More information, including the location, will be announced through the website in the coming weeks. Those interested in attending may RSVP to info@wmsbf.org. MEETING RSVPs We have almost exceeded capacity at each of the last three monthly meetings. This was in part due to a large number of attendees who have come without giving prior notice. If you plan on attending a meeting, it is vital that you let me know by the deadline. This helps us to have enough seats and food for all in attendance without ordering more than is needed (costing the WMSBF money). I do not assume anyone is coming – if you have not received a confirmation within a couple of days of sending your RSVP, I have not received it and I have not ordered a lunch for you. WMSBF SCHOLARSHIP GOLF OUTING Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 The date has been set for our third annual golf outing in support of the WMSBF’s Sustainability Scholarship. The outing replaces our usual monthly meeting on August 10 and will be held at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Ada. This is the sole funding source for this $5000 award that this year went to Brett Little at Aquinas College. To make this happen, we need golfers and sponsors as well as donations for door prizes. You can find more information, including sign-up forms, here. Related, Marta Swain at WMSBF member Clothing Matters has graciously offered to donate 10% of golf shirt purchases through August 10 to the WMSBF. “Putt a layer of sustainability into your game!” SUSTAINABILITY TESTIMONIALS WANTED The Right Place is collecting substantiated sustainability firsts, large and small, to be used to help promote the region for attracting talent and investment. Please help in this endeavor by sending the points of pride you are aware of from your organization or elsewhere that should be on the list to Anne Saliers at saliersa@rightplace.org. Similarly, the WMSBF Outreach Committee is seeking testimonials from members who have successfully implemented ideas and practices as a result of their participation with the WMSBF. Please send your success stories to Vicki Kellough at vkellough@grpress.com.
